Delegation of an East German Friendship Train with a wreath "In honour of the fallen Soviet Heroes" at the monument to the Red Army at Treptower Park, East Berlin, 18 November 1989. The monument is dedicated to 5,000 of the 80,000 Soviet soldiers who fell in the Battle of Berlin in April- May 1945. Friendship Trains carried the elite of East Germany's Young Pioneers and Ernst Thälmann Pioneers to Socialist countries to foster international relations.
